Banana Ginger Rolls
4 Servings
Ingredients:
3 medium firm ripe bananas
2 Tbsps. packed light brown sugar
1/2 tsp. Chinese five-spice powder
12 wonton wrappers
vegetable oilfor deep-frying
1/2 cup purchased chocolate syrup
1/4 cup ginger syrup
2 cups vanilla ice cream
Cooking:
Peel bananas; halve lengthwise and crosswise. Place in a bowl with brown sugar and five-spice powder; stir gently to coat.
To make each roll: Place a wonton wrapper on work surface. Place a piece of banana diagonally across center of wrapper. Brush edges of wrapper with water and roll to seal. Ends of roll will be open.
In a 2-quart pan, heat 2-inches of oil for deep-frying to 350 degrees F. Deep-fry rolls, a few at a time, turning occasionally, until golden brown, about 1 minute one each side. Remove with a slotted spoon; drain on paper towels.
In a small saucepan, combine chocolate syrup and ginger syrup; cook over medium heat to simmer.
For each sundae, place a scoop of ice cream in a bowl, top with 3 banana rolls, and drizzle 2 tablespoons chocolate-ginger syrup over the top.
