MEATBALLS TRIO IN SAVORY BROTH

Makes: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

Pork Balls
1/4 lb. ground pork
1 teaspoon chopped cilantro
1-tablespoon water
1/2 teaspoon rice wine
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

Beef Balls
1/4 lb ground beef
1 teaspoon chopped green onions
1-tablespoon water
1-teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon rice wine
1-teaspoon cornstarch

Fish Balls
1/4 lb. ground fish
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2-teaspoon salt
1/4-teaspoon white pepper

3 cups soup stock
2 cups water
6 dried black mushrooms, soaked and shredded
2 tablespoons chopped Chinese celery
1 red chili, seeded and sliced

Seasonings
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1-teaspoon sesame oil

Cooking:

  1. Combine pork ball ingredients in a bowl; stir to mix. Let stand 10 minutes. Repeat with beef and fish ball ingredients. Roll 2 tablespoons of pork mixture to make 1-inch balls. Repeat procedure to make beef and fish balls.
  2. Combine soup stock and water in a pot; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium. Add mushrooms and pork and beef balls; cook for 2 minutes. Add fish balls, celery, red chili, and seasonings; cook for another 3 to 4 minutes. Ladle into individual bowls and serve immediately.

Note: Purchase ready-made pork, beef and fish balls.
