CHICKEN DRUMMETTES IN SWEET SOY SAUCE

Makes: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

Sauce ingredients
2 cups water
1/2 cup dark soy sauce
1/3-cup light soy sauce
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 1/2-inch pieces of ginger, lightly crushed
3 green onions cut in half
1 whole star anise
1/8 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

2 pounds chicken wing drummettes

Cooking:

  1. Combine sauce ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Add chicken wings and bring back to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until chicken is tender, 20 to 25 minutes.
  3. Remove chicken from liquid with a slotted spoon; place on a serving plate and drizzle 3 tablespoons of sauce over chicken. Serve with steamed rice.
