CLAY POT

Clay pots make a fun addition to your cooking armory. Made from clay and sand, and usually encased in a wire protective casing, they are great heat absorbers, making them great for braising, simmering, slow cooking, and stewing. You can even serve them in the very pot that you cook your meal in. Clay pots are designed to withstand high temperatures and can be placed directly on a gas burner or in an oven. But don't be fooled by it's heaviness and sturdy appearance, clay pots are fragile and should be handled carefully to avoid breakage.

  1. Allow the pot to cool completely before immersing it in water or placing it on a damp or cold surface.
  2. Never leave the clay pot empty when placing it directly over heat. Always add liquid first.
