EDAMAME

"Edamame" is the Japanese term for soybean. The word edamame literally means "Beans on Branches," and it grows in clusters on bushy branches. These soybeans have a slightly sweet flavor, with a crisp, crunchy texture and been used for over two thousand years as a key protein source in Asia. Use edamame as a snack, a vegetable dish, in soups, or process into sweets. As a fresh snack, the pods are parboiled in salted water, and then the seeds are pinched directly from the pods into the mouth with the fingers. Serve them warm, sprinkle with salt and enjoy!
